Internship Overview
The Social Media Intern – TikTok Content Production will work closely with UNFPA’s Digital Communications team to support the organization’s TikTok strategy and content production efforts. This is a practical, creative role focused on storytelling, trend analysis, and audience engagement.

24 weeks
Available Periods:
March to August 2026
September 2026 to February 2027
Work Arrangement:
In-person in New York City or remote, with flexibility to work across time zones

Key Responsibilities
The intern will contribute to the daily operations and creative direction of UNFPA’s TikTok account. Responsibilities include:
- Producing original TikTok videos, including filming, editing, and appearing on camera when required
- Developing creative ideas, scripts, and visual concepts for short-form content
- Monitoring TikTok trends, viral formats, and platform updates to inform content strategy
- Editing videos using mobile and desktop editing tools
- Supporting the planning and scheduling of a TikTok content calendar
- Writing captions and on-screen text aligned with UNFPA’s messaging and tone
- Collaborating with internal teams to transform global issues into accessible digital stories
- Supporting coverage of campaigns, international observances, and advocacy moments
Eligibility and Qualifications
This internship is suitable for candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program, or graduated within the past year
- Proven experience creating TikTok or short-form social media video content
- Strong understanding of TikTok culture, trends, and youth-focused communication
- Confidence appearing on camera and communicating clearly
- Basic video editing skills using mobile or desktop tools
- Strong written and spoken English skills
- Ability to work independently in a multicultural, fast-paced environment
Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset.
Estimated Salary / Stipend
UNFPA internships are not salaried positions. However, interns may receive a monthly stipend intended to help cover basic living expenses.
Estimated Monthly Stipend:
USD 800 – USD 1,200 (depending on duty station, funding availability, and work arrangement)
Interns are responsible for securing medical insurance and covering accommodation, travel, and personal living expenses during the internship period.
