The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has announced five exciting openings for the position of Assistant Client Advisor (P1 Level) Total estimated annual salary: USD 74,350 within the Patents and Technology Sector. About the Role
The Assistant Client Advisor posts are located across multiple PCT Client Service Teams and Operations Services within WIPO’s PCT Operations Division. This division manages the receipt, examination, publication, and communication of international patent applications under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), delivering high-quality services in all ten official PCT publication languages.
These positions are ideal for candidates with a strong interest in patents, customer support, and international intellectual property systems.

Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for a variety of operational and client service duties, including:
1. Client Engagement & Support
- Identify repetitive issues affecting the same clients and report them to senior advisors.
- Contact applicants as instructed and offer high-quality support.
- Respond to inquiries promptly and maintain strong client relationships.
2. Examination & Processing
- Examine formality requirements for international applications in at least two languages.
- Process, enter data, acknowledge receipt, and follow up on documentation.
- Refer complex cases to team supervisors when necessary.
3. Publication & Workflow Management
- Prepare and review documents for publication.
- Ensure timely completion of publication assignments and notify coordinators of any delays.
4. Internal Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to enhance workflows.
- Assist with testing and support related to PCT electronic services and tools.
- Keep updated with new work procedures and systems.
5. Additional Tasks
- Provide customer support on electronic PCT tools when requested.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Education
- A first-level university degree is essential.
Professional Experience
- At least two years of experience working with patents, ideally in an IP office or related environment.
- Experience with formalities examination and customer service is an advantage.
Languages
- Excellent written and spoken proficiency in one PCT publication language and good knowledge of a second (one must be English).
- Knowledge of additional PCT languages is an asset.

Contract, Salary & Benefits
This is a P1-level fixed-term position based in Geneva, Switzerland.
Annual Compensation (as of October 2025 post adjustment rate 88.7%):
- Net annual salary: USD 39,401
- Post adjustment: USD 34,949
Total estimated annual salary: USD 74,350
Compensation is paid in Swiss francs according to UN exchange rates. WIPO offers competitive benefits, allowances, and relocation support as applicable under UN staff regulations.
